For businesses in the digital economy, the opportunities to connect with new audiences are vast – but they’re also in a constant state of flux. As a result, every business needs someone they can rely on to build and lead digital strategies that turn leads into customers, and customers into advocates.
As more and more human interaction takes place across digital channels, the competition for prolonged attention and meaningful connection is more intense than ever. There’s also a treasure trove of data about consumer behaviour waiting to be collected, interpreted, and applied to drive business growth.
It might be no surprise then, if the demand for leaders in digital marketing continues its rise in the coming years.
The ability to perform in a marketing leadership role requires that you’re able to unlock the power of data to drive growth, deliver greater ROI on a marketing budget, and attract diverse, new talent to your team.
The LSE Digital Marketing Strategy & Analytics Career Accelerator seeks to address the need for digital marketing leaders by helping you develop integrated, up-to-date knowledge of the tools and tactics you can use to boost business performance, with a focus on transforming data into actionable insights and using visualisation to communicate these insights at a leadership level.
Through engaging coursework and industry-led projects, you’ll deepen your understanding of digital marketing and practise its application in real scenarios. From channel strategy, team structures and data privacy to growth marketing, emerging technologies and data-backed decision-making, you’ll build a diverse portfolio of digital marketing skills you can use to drive ROI for any business.
AI is changing what work looks like – not necessarily taking jobs away. The World Economic Forum predicts that by 2027, digital specialist roles – including those in digital marketing – will increase by 25-35%, opening up two million new positions.1
1World Economic Forum, The Future of Jobs Report 2023
Your six-month Career Accelerator starts after three weeks of orientation, during which you’ll familiarise yourself with the digital campus, be introduced to your support team, connect with fellow learners and plan your studies. You’ll then progress through three courses and an Employer Project, where you’ll build a portfolio of evidence to showcase your new skills and competencies. Upon successful completion of the programme, you’ll earn a certificate from LSE.
Marketers aspiring to advance into marketing leadership roles, and looking for a comprehensive skill set to get them there.
Mid-level marketing professionals seeking to fortify their data-driven digital marketing expertise and advance their leadership journey.
Ambitious professionals in related fields with foundational marketing knowledge looking to gain credibility and skills to transition to a digital marketing role.
“The step up for single channel marketers into a digital marketing leadership role is often a challenging career transition to make. It comes with high expectations and often very little formal support. If I was starting out again in my career, looking at the content of this programme, I wouldn’t hesitate to enrol and get the structured support this offers to set someone up for real success in a digital marketing leadership role.”

Course 1: The Essence of Digital Marketing
Tools: Miro
Assignment: Developing and presenting a strategy
In this first assignment, you’ll develop and present a digital marketing strategy that supports marketing mix recommendations and appropriate channel strategies, including inbound, outbound, social media, and SEO for a fictional business scenario.
Course 2: Data-driven Digital Marketing Strategies and Campaigns
Tools: Google Analytics 4, Hotjar, Looker Studio, Miro
Assignment: Incorporating data into strategy and campaign development
You’ll spend time evaluating and developing a digital marketing campaign plan based on the business objectives, campaign strategy, and data outputs provided. You’ll then select the target audience, identify channels across the consumer decision-making journey, and evaluate and recommend appropriate behavioural segmentation techniques to optimise targeting and positioning. Finally, you’ll create and submit a written campaign plan and presentation to stakeholders summarising the digital marketing campaign and data strategy.
Course 3: Impactful Digital Marketing Leadership
Tools: Dive deeper into all the tools from the first two courses
Assignment: Self-defined assignment project
The Course 3 assignment takes a project-based approach that gives you the opportunity to craft your own self-defined assignment brief. You’ll define your own parameters with the guidance of a student success manager in advance of starting the assignment. This approach allows you to tailor your project to align with your individual career goals, for increased personalisation and relevance.
Employer Project: Digital Marketing Employer Project
After completing the third course, you’ll be introduced to the employer partner and briefed on the Employer Project. To complete the project, you’ll collaborate with a team of peers, apply your newly acquired knowledge, and refine your skills.
The Employer Project is:
Unique for each presentation of the course
Your personal experience of this Career Accelerator will be unique because the employer partner you work with is specific to your intake, and is only there for you and your team.
Based on genuine employer needs and interests
In some cases, you’ll address a challenge the employer currently faces and you might work with the company’s own data. You may also be presented with a client scenario and a problem to solve.
Designed to reflect the practical skills required in a digital marketing role
The project mirrors the actual knowledge and skills you’ll need to design and lead data-driven digital marketing strategies in the real world – including tools, frameworks, and best practices.
“One of the great things about the Employer Project is you’re dealing with a real-life problem that organisations will face.”
